2026 five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon, a Tennessee Vols commit for over a year, kicked off his senior season of high school football by scoring a game-winning touchdown.

Brandon led Grimsley to a 28-27 overtime against West Charlotte in Bank of America Stadium (home of the Carolina Panthers) on Friday evening.

Grimsley won the game thanks to Brandon’s go-ahead touchdown run in overtime from the one yard line.

Brandon, who is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class, completed 7-of-1o passes for 171 yards and a touchdown in the win. He also rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown.

The Tennessee commit was named the MVP of the game.

Brandon will return to action next Friday night in Clemmons, NC when Grimsley takes on West Forsyth.
