There’s going to be a lot of orange in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday when the Tennessee Vols and the Syracuse Orange face off.
Most of that orange, however, will be worn by Tennessee fans — the Vols are expected to have a significant crowd advantage over Syracuse.
Syracuse head coach Fran Brown met with reporters on Monday and he was asked about the crowd advantage that Tennessee will likely have.
While answering the question, Brown referred to Tennessee’s orange as “burnt orange”.
Burnt orange, of course, is what what the Texas Longhorns use.
“Everybody is going to have on orange,” said Brown. “Orange is orange. So we just gotta not see the burnt orange as much. But orange is orange. My guys are just going to be happy to be playing in a packed stadium. We’re ready to go. I’m excited to go there and play football.”
Tennessee fans, unsurprisingly, took umbrage with Brown’s description of the Vols’ shade of orange.

Earlier on Monday, Vols linebacker Jeremiah Telander pointed out that Syracuse wears the “wrong shade of orange”.
I think Brown is a good coach. And I think he’ll have his team ready to play on Saturday. But orange is not orange. Never has been, never will be.
