Brother Martin (La.) wide receiver Easton Royal recently updated his fall travel plans and what matters most to him in an interview with Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong.
“Relationships, offensive-style, brotherhood, academics, NIL, no order,” Royal said of the important factors he’s looking for in a school.
Royal is planning to take visits to Ohio State this weekend, LSU for its game versus Florida, Ole Miss when it hosts LSU, and he will see Texas a total of three times. The five-star prospect will also be at Clemson for the Florida State game, at Oregon when it hosts Southern Cal, and Tennessee in its regular season finale versus Vanderbilt.
It’s early, but in-state LSU has Easton Royal’s attention.
“The thing that fires me up is LSU is always knowing they produce good wide receivers so it’s a blessing to be wanted to be a part of that legacy,” Royal said. “The thing that makes them a potential fit is the way the love to take 1-on-1 with their receivers.”
Typically, when LSU sets its sights on an in-state prospect, the Tigers get it done on national signing day. But, it would appear Royal is open to going anywhere as evident by his visit schedule.
But, the recent wide receiver history and legitimate interest expressed by Royal has to make you feel good if you’re an LSU fan.
Speaking of Louisiana, the Pelican State connection at Texas has the five-star intrigued as well.
“I’m intrigued to see how Arch (Manning) plays honestly with him being a Louisiana cat,” said Royal. “I expect to see him and Texas light up the score board and really show he can play in big-time games.”
Royal is the No. 14 overall prospect, No. 2 rated WR, and No. 2 ranking player in Louisiana for the Class of 2027, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings.
As a sophomore, Royal finished with 1,149 all-purpose yards and 14 total touchdowns. On the track, he was an absolute monster – posting 100-meter times of 10.38 and 10.68. The 10.38 is a Brother Martin school record.
“I have a few personal goals,” Royal said about 2025. “I’d like to have between 1300 and 1500 yards and 15 touchdowns with 4 return touchdowns. I’d like to have close to 100 catches.”
Bottom line, Easton Royal appears to be wide open. He’s just a junior and will have a whole season before things get real when he’s a senior. I’d give LSU the edge early, per the aforementioned reasons above. But, Texas has a real shot with the Manning connection and he will get an up close and personal look at some of the other big-time programs this fall as well.
Royal has been very upfront about what matters to him, too. So, whomever can meet those needs are almost assuredly going to have a leg up in this recruitment.
