Minnesota Vikings have major injury concerns

After staying mostly healthy throughout the preseason and training camp, we are now seeing more concrete injury news about the stars on the team. Smith and Van Ginkel both missed multiple weeks of practice for their injuries. It’s worth noting that Smith went through walkthroughs on Wednesday before sitting out practice.

The other major aspect of this injury report is Darrisaw. The Vikings are hoping that he will be ready after a ramp up period, but there is still work to be done.

“I know he’s he had a great camp, you know, checked every box from a workload standpoint, building into this week. He’ll practice today [Wednesday],” said head coach Kevin O’Connell. “And we’ve always with CD [Christian Darrisaw], just with how committed he’s been to taking the daily approach, we’ve done the same with him,” O’Connell said. “So we’re going to progress as forward and be smart, but we’re going to give him every opportunity to practice and then see how he feels, and then ultimately, in regards to his availability, we’ll make that decision as the week progresses.”

If he ends up playing, it will be a huge benefit for the Vikings going into their season debut. The Bears have Montez Sweat and Dayo Odeyingbo on the other side on the edge, and it could be a major factor in deciding the game with J.J. McCarthy getting his first start.

On the Bears side, they have seven players on the injury report

The biggest of these will be Jaylon Johnson. If he doesn’t play, that could launch Justin Jefferson into a massive game, as he will get the start after missing the majority of training camp with a hamstring injury.

Saturday will be the day where we really know how much injuries will impact the game.
