The Kansas City Chiefs are elevating two players from the practice squad for the Week 4 game against the Baltimore Ravens, including a former third-round NFL draft pick.

The Chiefs are elevating CB Kevin Knowles and DT Brodric Martin to reinforce their defensive depth for Sunday afternoon. Martin, a former third-round draft pick in 2023 by the Detroit Lions, will be elevated and play for Kansas City for the first time. At 6-foot-5 and 326 pounds, Martin is a run stuffer who will help keep fresh legs along the interior defensive line to clog rushing lanes and slow down a player like Ravens RB Derrick Henry.

In five games with the Lions over the past two seasons, Martin recorded just four total tackles. The hope is that he can be more productive in Kansas City, and this will be his first opportunity to impress.

With Mike Danna doubtful for the Week 4 game, there was some speculation that the Chiefs could elevate a defensive end from the practice squad. Going heavier on the defensive interior might indicate that Ashton Gillotte and Charles Omenihu are both expected to be ready to play a significant load of snaps, along with LB Leo Chenal potentially playing some more on the edges.

Chiefs exhaust CB Kevin Knowles’ final practice squad elevation

With CB Kristian Fulton still limited at practice, the Chiefs have elevated CB Kevin Knowles from the practice squad for the third consecutive week. This marks Knowles’ final regular-season elevation for Kansas City. If the team wants to bring him up to the 53-man roster from here on out, they’ll have to sign him and waive him to send him back to the practice squad. His practice squad elevations will reset during the playoffs. In 21 snaps on special teams over the past two games, Knowles has amassed four total tackles for the Chiefs.
