Bucs practice update confirms status of Bucky Irving and other injured players for Sunday against Seattle
The Bucs will be without some important players against the Seahawks.
It didn’t appear as though Bucky Irving was going to be able to play on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks after being spotted at practice on Wednesday in a walking boot and on crutches. And that will indeed be the case, as Irving will miss his first NFL game as a result of the foot injury he suffered last Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles in a 31-25 loss.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Irving will miss the game, in addition to Mike Evans and defensive backs Jamel Dean, Benjamin Morrison, and Christian Izien.

Irving has managed to play through pain before. We saw that after suffering a hip injury last season in a win over Carolina, managing to gut it out and stay on the field the next week against Las Vegas.
However, a foot sprain is debilitating and was significant enough this week to require the use of crutches, so the end result here for Irving is not too surprising. Evans’ hamstring injury was expected to carry a multi-week absence, so him not being ready is also not out of left field.
The Bucs will be down three defensive backs on Sunday as they attempt to stop what’s been a red-hot start for Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba. According to Todd Bowles after practice on Friday, the Bucs will employ some combination of Jacob Parrish, Kindle Vildor, and Josh Hayes at the boundary and nickel positions to try to counteract the loss of outside starter Dean. Parrish has had a strong start as the team’s nickel corner, although he has the ability to play outside.
The Bucs and Seahawks get underway on Sunday at 4:05 pm ET from Lumen Field in Seattle.
