Brian Callahan catches a hilarious stray on College Gameday ahead of crucial Week 6 Titans vs Raiders matchup

Things had been going really, really poorly for Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan in 2025 until the fourth quarter of Week 5. In what was probably the most providential outcome of the year, the Arizona Cardinals completely melted down and Cam Ward’s offense suddenly found life for three consecutive scoring drives to secure a most improbable win. It felt like divine intervention for this team, this fanbase, and most of all, this coaching staff.

Things at Titans HQ in North Nashville had a badly-needed relaxed vibe this week. They aren’t resting on their single laurel by any means, but there wasn’t a thick air of uncertainty and chaos anymore either. It’s genuinely shocking how much a single win can do for morale. And while the “fire Brian Callahan” drumbeat took a step back from the fever pitch it had been at, the College Gameday broadcast on Saturday served as a comical reminder that the head coach of the Titans is far from out of the woods.

“Fire Brian Callahan” Sign Pops Up On College Gameday

Who doesn’t love sign-watching on College Gameday? Well, the answer to that rhetorical question this weekend is Brian Callahan. ESPN’s Saturday morning pregame show is known for it’s creative signage in the background of the studio set, as college students fill the campus grounds with messages of all kinds. Everything from football smack talk, to religion, to politics, to pop culture has made its way onto our TV screens. And in turn, it ends up on social media.

This week, Gameday is in Eugene, Oregon for the big matchup between Oregon and Indiana. During a commercial transition, a sign with “FIRE BRIAN CALLAHAN PLEASE” was front and center at the bottom of everybody’s screens. And this might come as a shock: it didn’t take long for the internet to get ahold of it.

Maybe they’re talking about a different Brian Callahan? For the Titans head coach to catch a stray on Saturday morning all the way out in Eugene is objectively funny. And for it to come off of a Titans win is a stark reminder of the heavy lifting he and his staff have left to do if they wish to ever be back in the good graces of their fans. A win in Las Vegas this week would be a fantastic second step towards turning the heat down further, especially with a pivotal narrative matchup on the horizon in Week 7. Mike Vrabel is coming to town, and he’s bringing his winning New England Patriots team with him. Getting to 2-4 before that home game would be ideal for Tennessee.
