Sean McDermott takes a shot at Joe Brady and the Bills’ offense after the loss against Atlanta
Sean McDermott was blunt with his response.
The Buffalo Bills were not playing good, complementary football in the team’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons. However you want to cut it, the team looked flat-out bad in the contest. Quarterback Josh Allen had multiple turnovers and just couldn’t find his receivers open down the field throughout the matchup.
After the game, head coach Sean McDermott spoke to the media while taking a shot at the Bills’ offense. After the loss to the New England Patriots, there were comments made about the offense being too cute.
In the loss against the Falcons, the Bills pulled out a little bit of trickery on a fourth-down play that went nowhere. It was just a bad day at the office overall, and something that McDermott pointed out in his postgame messaging.
“I could feel what you’re saying,” McDermott said. “It was too hard. It was too hard tonight for our quarterback, and it doesn’t need to be that hard all the time.”
‘Everybody eats’ felt more like everybody starves
Taking a quick look at the box score, the ‘everybody eats’ mantra was nothing but words in the loss against the Atlanta Falcons. Wide receivers Khalil Shakir, Tyrell Shavers, and Keon Coleman led the team with three receptions each. The team’s leading receiver was Josh Palmer, who finished the day with two catches for 60 yards before ultimately having to leave the field due to injury.
In total, the receivers had 180 yards and two touchdowns, but were unable to really break anything free throughout the matchup. Bills Mafia is clamoring for the team to bring in a new receiver to help out on the offense, and some fans are even calling for a regime change in Buffalo.
McDermott wasn’t thrilled with the offense or defense, as he made clear with his postgame comments. Some back-to-back weeks with too cutesy play-calling have the fanbase and even the organization understanding that the team needs to turn things around moving forward.
The Bills now head into their bye week searching for answers on both sides of the football. The message from McDermott was clear: it doesn’t need to be this hard, but it’s up to the team to prove it on the field.
