Broncos get a huge boost just days ahead of showdown against the Giants that could go a long way toward Denver securing a win
Denver got a win without playing a single snap.
The Denver Broncos are heading into the matchup against the New York Giants relatively unscathed. The latest injury report from the team has them down linebacker Jonah Elliss and linebacker Dre Greenlaw listed as questionable.
Greenlaw might be getting his first look as a Bronco, as he’s been battling through a calf injury that has sidelined him through the team’s first six weeks of action. A huge offseason acquisition that gives the team a major boost heading into Sunday.
Perhaps an even bigger boost has nothing to do with the current Broncos team, but rather who the New York Giants are down in the matchup. The Giants announced that several key players and even some coaches are unable to make the trip to Denver, swinging momentum in the Broncos’ favor even before playing a single snap in the contest.
Giants are shorthanded heading to Denver
The following players and coaches will not be traveling with the team to Denver:
- Wide receiver Darius Slayton
- Linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles
- Linebacker Swayze Bozeman
- Defensive lineman Chauncey Golston
- Center John Michael Schmitz
- Offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo
Aside from the players who have been ruled out of the contest, outside linebackers Abdul Carter and Victor Dimukeje are questionable. Some key pieces on both sides of the football will be missing for the Giants on Sunday.
Bad blood between the teams
There’s been plenty of bad blood between the two teams leading up to Sunday. Linebacker Jonathan Cooper and fellow linebacker Nik Bonitto took some shots at the Giants organization, with Cooper throwing some subtle shade at quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Dart has since responded, but it’s clear that the two teams are hungrier than ever and looking to silence the other team. All that’s left to do is wait, and Broncos Country won’t have to wait long. The Broncos’ defense is looking to build on an already impressive season, in which they find themselves leading the league in sacks.
As for quarterback Bo Nix and the offense, they’re hoping to right some of the wrongs that were present in the team’s 13-11 victory over the New York Jets.
Between the war of words and the Giants’ injury woes, the tone is already set. Expect a fired-up Denver defense and a chip-on-their-shoulder offense looking to make sure this one isn’t close.
