Seattle Seahawks deliver rough news regarding one of their best players just an hour before kickoff against the Houston Texans
The Seattle Seahawks will be without their best cornerback in Devon Witherspoon, who’s inactive after practicing all week.
Just an hour and a half before the Seattle Seahawks kicked off their Monday Night Football game against the Houston Texans, the team released some impactful news in their inactives. Starting cornerback Devon Witherspoon, one of the best at his position when healthy, won’t play against the Texans.
This comes after practicing all week under the assumption that he would play. Here are the rest of the Seahawks inactives, as well as the Texans’ inactives, who also missing key players, like Christian Kirk and Dameon Pierce:
Seahawks’ Inactives

Devon Witherspoon, CB
Julian Love, S
Jared Ivey, LB
Derick Hall, LB
Mason Richman, OT
Nick Kallerup, TE
Texans’ Inactives

Seahawks were going to need Witherspoon vs. C.J. Stroud, Nico Collins, and dynamic Texans’ weapons
The Seahawks have one of the best defenses in the league right now. If the Denver Broncos weren’t playing absolutely lights out, you could make a case that they have the best defense in the league. However, losing Witherspoon, a major reason it’s so good, won’t help them against a team that can beat them with their wideouts.
The Texans have trouble protecting QB C.J. Stroud, but when he does get even a sliver of time, he can light you up with his great weapons, like Nico Collins, who could be the best WR in the league on a great offense.
Rookie stud Nick Emmanwori from South Carolina, who was drafted kind of as a tweener with safety athleticism but linebacker size, could see some time at nickel Monday night, to replicate what Witherspoon was doing. The other cornerbacks are set to be Riq Woolen, who’s been a huge trade candidate lately, and Josh Jobe.
Ty Okada could be the guy who steps up for Love being out, as well as some Coby Bryant action
