ESPN’s Greg McElroy has the Tennessee Vols ranked lower than the AP Top 25 does
Former Alabama Crimson Tide QB Greg McElroy has the Tennessee Vols ranked outside of the top 20 in his latest college football rankings
The Tennessee Vols fell six spots in the AP Top 25 poll this week after their 37-20 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa last Saturday night.
Tennessee fell from No. 11 to No. 17 in the latest AP Top 25 poll.
The Volunteers are currently the eighth highest ranked SEC program.
ESPN’s Greg McElroy has the Tennessee Vols ranked lower than the AP Top 25 does
Former Alabama quarterback and current ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy has Tennessee ranked lower the AP Top 25 does.
McElroy noted on Tuesday that he has Tennessee at No. 22.
“At No. 22, it’s Tennessee,” said McElroy. “Their best win is against Mississippi State, that was on the road. Mississippi State is a pretty good football team. That’s pretty much it. They’ll go to Kentucky this week before Oklahoma comes to them at the first of November.
“But things look pretty good for Tennessee. If they can get Oklahoma at home, get a win on the road at Kentucky this week, it could set up a very big stage against Vanderbilt in the final game of the regular season.”
Tennessee doesn’t have any room for error after suffering their second loss of the season, but the schedule is favorable down the stretch. The Vols should be favored in the rest of their games this season.
The matchup against Florida in the Swamp in the penultimate week of the regular season, however, looms large.
Tennessee has won in Gainesville since 2003.
