Former Tennessee Vols OC David Cutcliffe reveals what advice he’d give Tony Vitello about the San Francisco Giants job
Tennessee Vols fans are still waiting to hear if Tony Vitello is going to stay on Rocky Top or leave for the San Francisco Giants
Tennessee Vols fans continue to wait on UT baseball coach Tony Vitello’s decision on whether or not he’s going to leave Knoxville to become the new manager of the San Francisco Giants.
Vitello was seen with the Tennessee baseball team on Tuesday afternoon at a public scrimmage, but he reportedly hasn’t made a decision yet on his next move.
At this point, the news of Vitello’s decision could break at any moment.
Former Tennessee Vols offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe reveals what advice he’d give Tony Vitello
Former Vols offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe, who is currently a Special Assistant for Football Relations for the SEC, joined The George Plaster Show on Tuesday and he was asked what advice he’d give to Vitello about the Giants job.
Cutcliffe, who is full of wisdom, delivered a tremendous answer.
“I really like him,” said Cutcliffe of Vitello. “Every time the head baseball coaches come to the SEC office, I make it a point to be in town and we sit down and talk. I was just the SEC rep at the Arkansas/Tennessee game, and we had a chance to visit there.
“I’ll tell you, honestly, I would not give him an answer. He’s an interesting guy. He’s a single guy. I would just [tell] him simply, don’t use your head — use your heart. I mean, that’s the bottom line. Use your heart. You know what makes you happy. And if you’re not happy in your heart, you’re not going to be as good as you could be, period. I don’t care what you do. So that would be what I would tell him, but I wouldn’t give him an answer.”
I don’t think there’s any advice better than that. Ultimately, Vitello has to do what he believes in his heart is the right decision. And that decision is something he’s clearly torn over right now.
We should know Vitello’s decision soon. The Giants, after all, can’t wait around forever.
