Elite 4-star DB that was high school teammates with a current Vol includes Tennessee among his final schools
The Tennessee Vols are one of the top schools for one of the top-rated defensive backs in the 2027 recruiting class
2027 four-star cornerback Raylaun Henry included the Tennessee Vols among his final six schools this week.
Henry, 6-foot-2/180 lbs from Baltimore, MD, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 3 cornerback in the nation and the No. 18 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class (which means he could end up being elevated to five-star status soon).
Texas A&M, Ohio State, Alabama, Penn State, and Indiana are also in Henry’s top six schools.
Henry, who is planning to announce his commitment on November 15, was teammates as a freshman in high school at St. Frances Academy with Vols defensive back Edrees Farooq (Henry was a freshman when Farooq was a senior).
“My former teammate Edrees Farooq plays there and the environment of the whole college is just electric,” said Henry to On3 of his interest in Tennessee.
Vols defensive lineman Dominic Bailey also went to St. Frances Academy, but he played there well before Henry made it to high school.
Tennessee isn’t expected to be the pick for Rayshaun Henry
Despite having several connections to the Vols, Tennessee isn’t considered the favorite for Henry.
Henry told On3 that Ohio State, Alabama, and Texas A&M are the three school standing out the most for him.
You never know what will happen in recruiting — and Henry won’t officially sign with a school for another 14 months — but for now, it sounds like it would be a surprise if the talented defensive back committed to Tennessee next month.
