Bills’ Sean McDermott provides worrying injury update that could significantly alter Week 8 matchup against the Panthers
Not the update fans were hoping to hear.
The Buffalo Bills are gearing up for a Week 8 showdown against the Carolina Panthers. After the bye week, the team is looking onward and upward after some issues on both the offense and defense during back-to-back losses.
While speaking to the media on Wednesday, head coach Sean McDermott provided a worrying update on a slew of players ahead of the contest. Buffalo is looking to be a little shorthanded, and it could extend well beyond just the Week 8 game.
Defensive tackle DaQuan Jones and wide receiver Josh Palmer are both considered week-to-week. It’s not only that, as starting safety Taylor Rapp is still being determined, stemming from an injury he sustained during training camp. All three players will miss practice on Wednesday, but haven’t been ruled out of Week 8 yet.
What’s more, McDermott offered that “we’ll see” if the team places Palmer or Jones on the injured reserve, which would sideline them for at least the team’s next four games. A potentially devastating blow for the offense and defense, heading into the matchup against the Panthers.

Another name that Bills Mafia has been keeping an eye out for is that of rookie cornerback Dorian Strong. McDermott said that the team is still combing through medical information, as Strong is seeking a second opinion on his neck injury.
Strong isn’t the only rookie making waves, as the team has opened the 21-day practice window for cornerback Maxwell Hairston. In fact, Hairston was even able to practice with the team. Despite all of that, McDermott has said that the fan base needs to temper their expectations when it comes to Hairston’s availability on Sundays moving forward. He has a lot to learn and a lot to catch up on before the team is going to throw him to the wolves in some real NFL action.
Several key players were limited in practice, wide receiver Curtis Samuel, tight end Dalton Kincaid, and linebackers Matt Milano and Terrel Bernard are all trending in the right direction.
A lot of names on the injury report, and not a lot of time for them to get healthy with a game set for Sunday.
