Basketball season is just around the corner, and as of Thursday, we know who will be joining Voice of the Vols Mike Keith this season to call Tennessee Vols basketball games.

It was revealed on Thursday that Vols basketball legend Chris Lofton will serve as the analyst for Tennessee basketball games.

Keith, of course, will serve as the play-by-play announcer.

Lofton and Keith replace Bob Kesling and Bert Bertelkamp, who signed off last spring for the final time following the Volunteers’ loss to Houston in the Elite Eight.

Chris Lofton is a perfect choice to call games with Mike Keith

Lofton played at Tennessee from 2004 to 2008 (oddly enough, Ramon Foster, who is Keith’s partner for football broadcasts on the Vol Network, also played at Tennessee from 2004 to 2008).

The Kentucky native was the AP SEC Player of the Year in 2007, and he was named First-Team All-SEC three times.

One of Lofton’s most memorable moments on Rocky Top came in 2006 when he hit a shot over Texas Longhorns forward Kevin Durant to give Tennessee a lead late in regulation (the Vols went on to beat the Longhorns 111-105 in overtime).

Lofton will bring a fresh and youthful viewpoint to Tennessee broadcasts this winter.
