The Buffalo Bills are looking to bounce back after consecutive losses to the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons.

After the loss to the Falcons, it was clear that the team had plenty of areas to improve, both on offense and defense. Quarterback Josh Allen wasn’t his normal MVP self, but the team believes they have what it takes to bounce back in a big way in Week 8 against the Carolina Panthers.

Buffalo has a bit of history on its side, as head coach Sean McDermott is undefeated after the bye week, with a perfect 8-0 record, which could go a long way toward the Bills walking out of Carolina with a win. A secret weapon of sorts that has nothing to do with the players on the field.

Sean McDermott is undefeated after the bye week

On top of being undefeated, the team has outscored opponents by 79 points in the wins, with more than a handful of double-digit victories. The last time the team was coming off a bye week, Allen had one of the greatest plays of his entire career, the lateral from wide receiver Amari Cooper, giving Allen a receiving touchdown.

Heading into the matchup, the team is looking a little shorthanded with receiver Josh Palmer and defensive tackle DaQuan Jones considered week-to-week. Luckily, the team did get some reinforcements in edge Michael Hoecht and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi, who should slot in well after serving six-game suspensions by the NFL for PED use.

The Buffalo Bills know what it takes to turn around quickly, as they’ve yet to lose three straight.

With that built-in reset and a refreshed mindset after back-to-back losses, this Week 8 matchup presents a perfect moment for Buffalo to re-establish its identity. The defense spent the week stressing communication and tackling, while Allen and the offense stressed getting back to doing what they do best. The opportunity is there, now it’s on the players to deliver.
