Geno Smith has the worst possible answer to what everyone seems to be wondering after loss to Jaguars
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith just doesn’t have the right words after loss to Jaguars.
The Las Vegas Raiders had a chance to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars in overtime, but lost in heartbreaking fashion. Their offense, which has been a key reason for many of their losses this year, actually came close to winning them the game. But it wasn’t enough, as a two-point try in overtime to win the game was no good by quarterback Geno Smith.
On the two-point try, he double-clutched, or double-pumped, when Tyler Lockett was wide open right in front of him. After the pump, the defender was ready to jump for a pass deflection. So, by the time Smith threw it, it was batted down. Why did he pump it when Lockett was wide open and there was no pressure on him? Who knows.
“That’s football, brotha,” Smith told Jesse Merrick of Silver and Black Sports Network during the post-game press conference.
Smith plays better, but still costs the Raiders a win at home
Later, Smith answered the question of what happened on the two-point try a little better.
“We win the game if the guy doesn’t jump up and tip the ball. Hats off to him. He made the play.”
Like I said, a little better answer there from Smith.
Smith had four touchdowns, his most this season. He still had an interception, in which he yelled at tight end Michael Mayer for not coming back to the ball. Smith shouldn’t have thrown that ball to Mayer in the first place, though. But going 29 of 39 was a much better game for him than what he has done so far this year. That may have been one of his best games of the season.
And yet, Smith still found a way to lose the game for the Raiders in overtime. There are some positives to be happy about, Raider Nation, but it’s another loss in the worst way possible.
