Chiefs get the Josh Simmons news they desperately needed heading into the bye week after Week 9 loss to Bills
The Kansas City Chiefs get good news after the Week 9 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
The Kansas City Chiefs got some good news about their first-round draft pick, LT Josh Simmons, on Monday morning after the Week 9 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
After missing the last four games for personal family reasons, Simmons has officially rejoined the team, as first reported by NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Rumors began to swirl on Monday morning after Simmons reactivated his Instagram page, suggesting his return could be near. ESPN’s Nate Taylor had previously reported that the bye week was the targeted return date for Simmons, and that seems to be the case. Simmons reported to the team facility on Monday.
Simmons’ return to action comes at the perfect time, as the team recovers during the bye week and prepares for a crucial AFC West divisional matchup on the road against the Denver Broncos. He’ll have an acclimation period to get himself back into playing shape during the bye week. On the other end of it, he’ll be looking to return to the starting role that he found himself in back when the season kicked off in September.
Josh Simmons should be the Chiefs’ starting left tackle for Week 11 vs. the Broncos
Simmons started the first five games of the 2025 NFL season at the left tackle position for Kansas City. I’m told he is expected to return to a starting role, ahead of backup Jaylon Moore, who has filled in during his absence. Week 11 would mark his first game since October 6 vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Chiefs left tackle Josh Simmons vs. Jaylon Moore stat comparison (via PFF):
- Josh Simmons: One sack and 12 pressures on 314 offensive snaps.
- Jaylon Moore: Three sacks and 12 pressures on 294 offensive snaps.
This could put Moore back on the bench, depending on the severity of the ankle injury to RT Jawaan Taylor. Needless to say, the Chiefs’ offensive line needs a boost from Simmons’ return after surrendering a career-high 14 quarterback hits on Patrick Mahomes in Week 9 against the Buffalo Bills.
