The Philadelphia Eagles are bolstering their wide receiver room as they get ready to face the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football (Nov. 10).

Philly announced Monday afternoon that they had signed wide receiver Danny Gray to their practice squad. In a corresponding move, the team released guard Sua Opeta.

Gray isn’t a new face to the Eagles. In fact, he previously spent last season on the team’s practice squad and trained with the team throughout the offseason.

ESPN named Danny Gray an ‘under the radar’ player during OTAs

Gray was having an outstanding offseason with the Eagles until he was sidelined with a finger injury.

It was very unfortunate, considering ESPN had even named him to their “under the radar” players list, emphasizing his elite speed.

Gray was originally a former third-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in 2022. He saw action in 13 games as a rookie with the Niners, finishing the season with just one catch for 10 yards. He then joined the Eagles in September of 2024 and signed a futures/reserve contract with the team back in February.

As for Opeta, he rejoined the Eagles in October. Prior to that, he had signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Weber State in 2019 and developed into a key contributor and part-time starter. Opeta played 38 games for the Birds, including making 10 starts.
