The Chicago Bears continued to find ugly ways to win in Week 10, but in the NFL winning counts the same no matter how you get it done. And as a result, the Bears improved to 6-3 and have clear areas to improve upon moving forward.

“I think that’s the best thing about us winning right now is we can come back and we can coach them hard,” Bears head coach Ben Johnson told reporters on Monday. “We’ll tell them the truth. They know it. They’re all professionals. They know that we’re winning, but yet, this isn’t necessarily the style or the fashion that we want to hang our hat on long-term.”

Ideally, the Bears would like to be blowing teams out in the fourth quarter, or at least playing complete football in all three areas of the game. That kind of performance is still evading the team this season and the Bears will need to work out all the kinks in order to stay firm in the playoff hunt.

Bears are sitting pretty in the current NFC playoff picture entering Week 11

Playoffs? You kidding me? Playoffs? Yep, we’re talking playoffs and the Chicago Bears in the same sentence 10 weeks into the regular season. But, let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves because there’s still a lot of football to be played over the next eight weeks.

At the same time, the Bears have to be thrilled with where the team is sitting after Week 10 and even more thrilled after seeing the implications the outcome of Monday night’s game between the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles had for Chicago’s playoff picture. Let’s take a look:

Current NFC Standings

  1. Philadelphia Eagles (7-2)
  2. Seattle Seahawks (7-2)
  3. Detroit Lions (6-3)
  4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-3)
  5. Los Angeles Rams (7-2)
  6. Chicago Bears (6-3)
  7. Green Bay Packers (5-3-1)

With Week 10 all said and done, the Bears moved up one position compared to how the standings looked on Sunday night and sit at sixth in the NFC going into Week 11. The NFC North race, however, is where things get really spicy.

Current NFC North Standings

  1. Detroit Lions (6-3)
  2. Chicago Bears (6-3)
  3. Green Bay Packers (5-3-1)
  4. Minnesota Vikings (4-5)

With the Packers loss on Monday night, the Lions jump to first place in the NFC North entering Week 11 and the Packers fall all the way down to third. Chicago is sandwiched between the two in second place in the division that will come down to a tight race.

The Bears will have four divisional games remaining in the final eight weeks that will be massive.
