Florida brilliantly trolled Tennessee after losing to the Vols in the Swamp, and it went mostly unnoticed by UT football fans

The Florida Gators pulled off an excellent troll job after losing to the Tennessee Vols.

The Tennessee Vols cruised to a huge win against the Florida Gators on Saturday night in the Swamp.

Tennessee jumped out to a 31-0 lead in the first half before slowing things down in the second and earning a 31-11 win over the Gators.

It was the Volunteers’ first win in Gainesville since 2003. It’s also the first time that Tennessee has defeated Florida in back-to-back seasons since 2003 and 2004.

Florida got…petty after losing to Tennessee

After Tennessee’s band finished playing Rocky Top following the win, Florida decided to get petty by playing Tom Petty’s “Even the Losers”.

Here are the lyrics in case you’re not familiar.

Baby, even the losers
Get lucky sometimes
Even the losers
Keep a little bit of pride
They get lucky sometimes

I wasn’t astute enough to notice this on my own, by the way — that credit goes to Fox Sports Knox’s Russell Smith.

That’s a solid troll job. That’s the stuff that makes college football fun.

The late Tom Petty, of course, was from Gainesville.

Florida fans famously sing along to the Tom Petty classic “I Won’t Back Down” before the fourth quarter of every home game. It’s one of the coolest scenes in college football.

Ironically, many of the Florida fans who stayed for the Tom Petty singalong on Saturday night left immediately after telling everyone, via song, that they wouldn’t back down.

College football is the best.
