The Kansas City Chiefs are busting out a fan-favorite jersey combination for the Week 13 Thanksgiving game against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, Nov. 27.

The team announced on social media on Tuesday that they’ll be wearing their white-on-white uniforms for the game, sharing a post on X (formerly Twitter) featuring LB Nick Bolton. This will mark the second time during the 2025 NFL season they’ve worn this particular alternate jersey combination.

The Chiefs last wore this color combination in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars on “Monday Night Football.” That game wound up being a 27-24 loss for Kansas City. They wore this color combination twice last season, in a win against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3 and a win against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day. After the game against the Cowboys, the team will have worn this combination 10 times during the Patrick Mahomes era (Rams 2018, Raiders 2021, Chargers 2021, Chargers 2022, Vikings 2023, Packers 2023, Falcons 2024, Steelers 2024, and Jaguars 2025). Since 2018, the Chiefs have achieved a 6-3 record while wearing these uniforms.

The Cowboys will also wear alternate uniforms for Week 13’s Thanksgiving game vs. the Chiefs

The Chiefs aren’t alone in wearing an alternate uniform for Week 13. The Cowboys are set to wear their dark blue tops, white pants, and white helmets. It’ll make for some intriguing color schemes on the Thanksgiving holiday.

NFL’s Alternate Uniform Policy Explained:

  • In early 2025, the NFL updated its rules regarding alternate uniforms. Teams are now allowed to wear alternate or throwback jerseys up to four times per season. The new regulations also permit teams to use a third alternate helmet, which can be paired with their alternate, classic, or Color Rush uniforms.

Chiefs have a history with the white-on-white uniform combo

The Chiefs have a unique history with this particular uniform combination. While they’ve had a lot of success wearing this uniform as of late, it used to be a reminder of the organization’s biggest failure in Super Bowl I. After losing to Green Bay in the Super Bowl, former Chiefs HC Hank Stram banned the white-on-white uniforms. His superstitions held as the team didn’t wear it again for nearly 20 years. It wasn’t until 1989, under then-Chiefs head coach Marty Schottenheimer, that the team reintroduced the white-on-white uniform combination, and it has been a fan-favorite ever since.

The Chiefs will have to wait until 2027 to get new ‘Rivalries’ alternate uniforms

For the 2025 NFL season, the league introduced “Rivalries” uniforms as a new initiative launched in collaboration with Nike. The program aims to create unique alternate uniforms featuring new helmet and jersey combinations that reflect a given team’s local culture and history. They will be worn once per season during divisional rivalry games. The first wave of these uniforms debuted for teams in the AFC East and NFC West. The AFC West will not get “Rivalries” uniforms until the 2027 NFL season.
