The Tennessee Vols are hoping to pull off a recruiting surprise this week.

Tennessee has been working hard to win back 2026 four-star wide receiver Legend Bey, a former Vols commit who flipped his commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes in November.

247Sports’ Mike Roach reported on Tuesday evening that Bey is facing “significant pressure” from some in his circle as the Vols attempt to “win him back.”

“While Bey is completely content with the Buckeyes, several people in his circle are pressuring him to go back to Tennessee, a source near Bey told 247Sports,” reported Roach. “It’s been a tense situation between Bey and those voices over the past few weeks, leading up to National Signing Day.”

Legend Bey delays signing with Ohio State

On Wednesday morning, news broke that Ohio State wide receivers coach Brian Hartline is leaving Columbus to take over as the head coach at USF.

As a result, Bey reportedly won’t sign until Friday, which gives the Vols some time to potentially make a move in this recruiting battle.

Baylor and SMU, according to 247Sports’ Tom Loy, are also in the mix for Bey.

Bey is a dynamic athlete with the potential to become an elite playmaker in the SEC. Landing Bey after the four-star wide receiver flipped to Ohio State would be a massive recruiting win for the Volunteers.

We’ll see how things play out with Bey over the next few days. But Tennessee, for now, is at least in the fight.

Update:

The Vols pulled off a stunner and signed Bey on Wednesday afternoon.
