This is a crucial game between two teams that are desperately trying to hold onto their playoff position.

On one sideline, the Minnesota Vikings are desperately hanging onto a playoff spot. They need everything to go right for them to make it, but they technically are still alive. Outside of that, the biggest story will be focused on quarterback J.J. McCarthy. Will he positively continue his development, or will he regress to where he was prior to playing a bad Washington Commanders team?

For the Dallas Cowboys, they are still alive for the NFC East. They need to win out and for the Philadelphia Eagles to lose two of their remaining four games. Due to the Cowboys’ tie, there are no tiebreakers unless the Eagles do the same. Dak Prescott is still at quarterback, meaning anything is possible.

The first injury report is out, and it’s loaded with names.

Observations

  • Some really interesting additions to the injury report. Addison being on there with an Achilles injury is a major problem. When it has any kind of injury, it can rupture pretty quickly. This is going to be an injury the Vikings need to be careful with.
  • Darrisaw sat out on Wednesday with his knee injury. He usually misses Thursday practice, but not doing so on Wednesday raises a big red flag for Sunday’s game.
  • A lot of veteran rest days on Wednesday. Nothing too concerning, including Jefferson, as he gets random rest days here and there.
  • Jones continues to be on the injury report with his shoulder injury. The Vikings should really consider shutting him down for the rest of the year.

Observations

  • Guyton is a big one for the Cowboys. Their backup tackle situation isn’t a good one either, and right tackle Terrance Steele has struggled mightily.
  • Cornerback is one to watch. Diggs and Revel being limited is a tough one with Jefferson and Addison coming to town.
