The Minnesota Vikings are one wrong result away from being eliminated from the playoffs. It’s their own fault, as they currently sit at 5-8 on the season due to the inconsistency with quarterback J.J. McCarthy’s play. While it did improve on Sunday afternoon against the Washington Commanders, it could take a bigger step forward against a paltry Matt Eberflus defense with the Dallas Cowboys.

It’s not the Vikings who are hanging on their slim playoff hopes, as the Cowboys have their own. They need to win out, and they can win the NFC East if the Philadelphia Eagles also lose two games.

Thursday’s injury report highlights some major developments on both sides of the ball.

Observations

  • Some really interesting additions to the injury report. Addison being on there with an Achilles injury is a major problem. When it has any kind of injury, it can rupture pretty quickly. This is going to be an injury the Vikings need to be careful with. Being limited for a second-consecutive day increases the concern.
  • Darrisaw sat out on Wednesday with the knee injury, and Thursday is his normal day off. Friday will tell us if he will actually be able to play on Sunday.
  • After multiple veteran rest days on Wednesday, they were all full participants on Thursday. No concern there.
  • Donovan Jackson improving from a limited to a full participant is a huge win for the Vikings.

Observations

  • Guyton is a big one for the Cowboys. Not practicing for two-consecutive games as he continues to heal from his high ankle sprain is a big deal, especially with the talent the Vikings have at edge rusher.
  • Lamb practiced in full and is likely to be ready to go on Sunday night. That is a big deal for the Cowboys.
