Tennessee Vols fans are still waiting for a definitive answer on the future of 2026 four-star athlete Legend Bey.

Bey flipped his commitment from Tennessee to Ohio State in November before surprisingly signing with the Volunteers on the first day of the early signing period.

It wasn’t long after Bey signed with Tennessee that reports surfaced about some disagreement within his camp on where the dynamic recruit should sign (with one report even suggesting that Bey’s signature with Tennessee was forged).

The feeling is that Bey’s mother wanted him to sign with Tennessee. It’s believed that Bey, however, wanted to sign with Ohio State.

Legend Bey has reportedly asked for his release from Tennessee

On3’s Sam Spiegelman shared the latest on BeyWatch Monday on The Inside Scoop.

According to Spiegelman, Bey has asked for his release from Tennessee. Spiegelman also noted that he expects Tennessee to let Bey out of his NLI.

“They have requested their letter of release from Tennessee,” said Spiegelman of Bey. “And they are waiting for Tennessee to confirm this. This could come as early as today (December 15), or tomorrow. This is in the works….Whether it was his mother or somebody else who forged his signature, Tennessee got a signature on National Signing Day. They got the flip done at the buzzer. However, it does look like they (Bey) are going to get out of this.

“I do expect Tennessee to grant him the release based on what we’re hearing… I do expect Tennessee to eventually say, if he doesn’t want to be here, let him go explore his options,” added Spiegelman. “I think that’s been made apparently clear over the last few days.”

Bey is a dynamic player with tremendous upside, but it sounds like he could be released from his NLI with Tennessee any day now.
