The Minnesota Vikings are looking to improve their record to 7-8 when they take on the 2-12 New York Giants, who are in contention for the first-overall pick.

It doesn’t matter when it comes to the playoff standings, but it certainly does for NFL Draft position. There are many players banged up on both sides, including the Vikings, who lost edge rusher Jonathan Greenard and safety Josh Metellus for the season this week.

The injury report on Wednesday lists numerous trench players for the Vikings.

Observations

  • Christian Darrisaw being on the list is tough, but he’s been injured all season, missing multiple games for the Vikings. You can make an argument that he should be shut down for the season.
  • Gavin Bartholomew practiced for the first time since training camp opened, as he’s been on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Seeing him play at all would be good.
  • Javon Hargrave and Brian O’Neill left Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. Their status will be worth monitoring.

Observations

  • Three cornerbacks on the list are a concern for the Giants, especially Dru Phillips.
  • Kayvon Thibodeaux’s absence will limit the Giants’ pass-rush versatility.
