‘I’m like, you eat all that?’ – Tom Brady drops another classic must-hear Peyton Manning story
Tom Brady has some classic stories about Peyton Manning, his former AFC rival.
Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are two of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, and they were rivals in the NFL for 15 years.
It’s no surprise that the two superstars developed a close relationship over the years — elite athletes know they can learn from other elite athletes.
As a result of that close relationship, Brady has a library of great stories about Manning.
Tom Brady drops classic story about Peyton Manning’s breakfast habits
Brady appeared on The Big Podcast with Shaq this week and he shared a story about spending a few days with Manning in 2010.
The two quarterbacks got together in Tennessee for a few days that offseason to train and share ideas.
At one point during their quarterback “retreat”, the two legends had breakfast. And Brady was shocked by Manning’s order.
“I was like, listen, I’ve been in the league 10 years,” said Brady. “I called Peyton — it was the offseason — I was like, ‘Let’s me and you get together. I’ve learned from all the other quarterback coaches, why don’t me and you sit down and talk football for three days.’ He’s like, ‘Let’s do it. Come to my place in Tennessee.’ I fly down to Tennessee, Peyton and I would work out together, we played golf together, we would ride jet skis together at his house. And, of course, we’re eating meals.
“So he sits down for breakfast, they come into this old cabin like, ‘Mr. Brady, what do you want to eat?’ I’m like, ‘I’ll take, you know, oatmeal and two scrambled eggs, and that’s it.’ They’re like, ‘Peyton, what do you want?’ He’s like, ‘I want biscuits and gravy, three pancakes, six [pieces of] bacon. I want three sausages.’ And I’m like, ‘You eat all that?’ And I was like the southern boy, Peyton Manning, this is all the good comfort food.”
Breakfast is certainly different, and I might add delicious, in the South.
