Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton went viral on Sunday for a quarterback scramble that didn’t go quite as he’d planned.

Milton, who was traded from the New England Patriots to the Dallas Cowboys ahead of the 2025 season, saw some action late in the Cowboys’ 34-17 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

The former Vol completed a couple of passes after entering the game before taking off on a 10-yard scramble.

In the middle of the scramble, Milton attempted to fix his helmet, which allowed Chargers safety Derwin James to knock the ball loose (Los Angeles recovered the fumble).

Cowboys fans should take it easy on Joe Milton

Milton completed two passes for 11 yards in his brief action against the Chargers, but it’s the fumble that will be remembered by fans.

There’s no doubt Milton’s fumble was a blooper-reel moment, but every pro athlete has a play like that at some point in their career.

Milton’s gaffe was somewhat understandable, anyway. The former Vol hasn’t had many live game reps. It’s tough to be crisp when you barely get to play.

Now that the Cowboys have been eliminated from the NFL playoffs, maybe Milton will get to see some extended action while starting quarterback Dak Prescott gets a break.
