6 Bills players emerge as key figures during the final stretch of a critical and league-shaping process
An exciting time to be a fan of the Bills.
The NFL Pro Bowl roster will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 23. While many joke about the Pro Bowl’s seriousness, it’s an honor for these players to be selected — and it truly impacts their careers, with incentives and future contract considerations. Buffalo, fortunately, has a handful of players who showed up in the final voting stages.
How does Pro Bowl voting work?
Players are selected to the Pro Bowl through a combination of votes from fans, current players, and coaches. Fans account for one-third of the vote through online ballots on NFL.com, team websites, and social media platforms.
Typically, on X, you can see players’ names with the hashtag “ProBowlVote,” which gives them a vote for each repost.
Players from all 32 NFL teams also vote for opponents and teammates, not themselves, for the best at each position, while professional coaching staffs submit their own ballots, ranking players at specific positions. Each group contributes equally to the final selection.

The only player that was No. 1 on the list for their position, let’s see if you can guess, OK, I’m done waiting, it’s quarterback Josh Allen. Allen was actually sitting behind Patriots quarterback Drake Maye throughout the voting process, but leapfrogged him in the final moments.
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce led all players in fan balloting for the games, followed by Allen, Maye, Caleb Williams, and Kevin Byard.
In total, including Allen, seven players appeared on the official voting list for Buffalo. Running back James Cook ranked sixth in the league, center Connor McGovern ranked fifth, offensive tackle Dion Dawkins ranked seventh, fullback Reggie Gilliam ranked fourth, safety Cole Bishop ranked sixth, and return specialist Ray Davis ranked eighth.
Past Pro Bowlers from Buffalo
It’s not the first time Buffalo has seen a handful of players selected to the Pro Bowl or receive high voting totals. The 2025 games saw Allen selected to his third Pro Bowl, Dawkins to his fourth, with replacements James Cook and Connor McGovern also earning nods. For Cook, it was his second consecutive Pro Bowl and McGovern’s first appearance in 2025.
In the 2024 games, Buffalo had Dawkins, Cook, and Stefon Diggs selected. Then, in 2023, Allen, Diggs, Jordan Poyer, and Mitch Morse got nods, along with replacements Matt Milano, Dawkins, Rodger Saffold, and Dawson Knox.
A strong showing in the final Pro Bowl voting only reinforces what Bills Mafia has seen all season: some big-time players stepping up hugely. While the Pro Bowl itself may not carry the weight it once did, the recognition still matters. With Allen leading the way and several key contributors right behind him, the Bills’ presence in the voting reflects a team built to contend well beyond December.
