The Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos have released their final injury reports for Week 17’s Christmas Day game.

The Chiefs and Broncos’ first injury reports of the week were estimated. The second injury report for each team reflected a full practice, while both teams likely had at least a walkthrough on Christmas Eve. There were quite a few injury-related developments for Kansas City on this final report, which show exactly where the focus of the remainder of the season will be.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the final injury reports for Week 17, complete with game status designations, for both teams. Keep in mind that clubs can add to the final injury report right up until kickoff on Thursday evening.

Observations

  • The Chiefs placed WR Rashee Rice, WR Tyquan Thornton, CB Trent McDuffie, and CB Jaylen Watson on injured reserve ahead of Week 17, so they’re no longer on the injury report as they were on Monday and Tuesday.
  • The team conveniently added two more starters, Nick Bolton and George Karlaftis, to the injury report on Wednesday with illnesses. That likely paves the way for both players to be scratched for Week 17’s game, realistically putting the team without upward of nine starters.
  • Nazeeh Johnson was officially activated from injured reserve, while TE Jake Briningstool remains on injured reserve and ruled out. They’ll have one more opportunity to activate him before his practice window expires.
  • The Chiefs have just a handful of players left on the practice squad after recent signings to the 53-man roster, but with five players listed as questionable, it seems like there will be at least two more players promoted for Thursday’s game.

Observations

  • The Broncos will be missing their starting center and starting middle linebacker. They also seem to be ailing at the tight end position, with Adam Trautman added to the injury report with an illness. He’s expected to play, given that he carries no game status; however, he might not be at full strength.
