The Kansas City Chiefs’ Christmas Day game against the Denver Broncos started well. Going into the half, Kansas City saw itself as the potential Grinch this time around on Christmas Day, with a 7-6 lead. How did they get there? Well, none other than quarterback Chris Oladokun is getting his first career passing touchdown to rookie RB Brashard Smith.

Winning this game would actually hurt the Chiefs because they could end up with a worse pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. However, why wouldn’t any Chiefs fan or Chiefs player want to beat the Broncos? It would help keep them from winning the AFC West, which is something you do want if you’re the Chiefs. However, the Broncos not winning the West, means the Los Angeles Chargers will.

Oladokun is playing like he knows what’s at stake. He’s playing like he wants to be the Grinch. His first career touchdown pass to Smith was a nice one, and the one that ultimately put KC in position to play spoiler.

To make it all even better, Oladokun threw it to Smith, who also got his first career TD. Getting Smith involved is exactly what fans have been asking for. Everyone wants to see more of Smith because he’s so dynamic. They saw enough of him on that play, as Smith barreled into the end zone.

Last week, Oladokun completed his first NFL completion in a regular-season game to Travis Kelce.

“You’re out there, and you know, my first completion [ever] is to Travis Kelce,” Oladokun said after the loss to the Tennessee Titans. “I’ve built a great relationship with him over the last couple of years, but if you had told me my first completion was going to be to him, I probably would have laughed at you.“

Last week, Oladokun completed his first career pass to Kelce; this week, he’s throwing his first career touchdown.
