The Buffalo Bills are going to be shorthanded, once again. It’s been the story of the season for Buffalo, which is just struggling to stay healthy from a game-to-game basis.

Ahead of the upcoming Week 17 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Sean McDermott spoke with WGR550, providing an injury update on a slew of players. Unfortunately for Bills Mafia, it wasn’t great news coming from the head coach.

McDermott has ruled out defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, safety Jordan Poyer, and kicker Matt Prater for Sunday. For Poyer, he’s been an absolute gamebreaker on defense, and his absence will be felt. With defensive back Cam Lewis also limited in practice and dealing with a nagging injury, it could mean that safety Jordan Hancock gets some increased reps or maybe even his first NFL start.

McDermott provides an update on Josh Allen for Sunday

It wasn’t all bad news from McDermott; in fact, he had quite the positive update to share with Bills Mafia about their superstar quarterback, Josh Allen. Allen was injured in the victory over the Cleveland Browns. While he didn’t miss a single snap, it was worrisome to say the least.

The reigning MVP has been progressing well with his injury, and the head coach offered that Allen “will be ready to play” on Sunday.

Having Allen on the field is crucial if the team wants to secure a victory. He’s the reigning MVP for a reason, and on more than one occasion, he’s put his team on his back and helped lead them to victory. A game without Allen isn’t a game Bills Mafia wants to watch.

Next man up for Buffalo once again

The defensive front has been ravaged by injuries, and losing Phillips is less than ideal this late in the season. Fortunately, it appears the team will have its full arsenal of weapons outside of Phillips, barring any unforeseen incidents on Friday’s practice.

It’ll be interesting to see if Michael Badgley gets the call on Sunday for kicking responsibilities after having a less-than-wonderful performance against the Cleveland Browns. In fact, the team actually brought in a handful of kickers for a tryout just days after the victory.

Buffalo is once again in a position where the team is forced to deal with adversity. Sunday is just yet another test of the team’s depth and toughness. With Allen ready to go, the Bills will look to overcome the injury challenges once again.
