A defensive player that previously played for new Tennessee Vols defensive coordinator Jim Knowles is reportedly entering the transfer portal.

Penn State linebacker Keon Wylie is planning to enter the portal when it opens on Jan. 2, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Wylie totaled 28 tackles and one sack while playing under Knowles at Penn State in 2025.

Keon Wylie is a former 3-star recruit from Philadelphia

Wylie, a former three-star recruit from Philadelphia, signed with Penn State during the 2022 recruiting cycle. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Knowles, who spent the 2025 season at Penn State after three seasons at Ohio State, quickly took notice of Wylie last spring.

“Keon Wylie has flashed,” said Knowles of Wylie last spring. “That’s what I call a flash, when guys kind of come across my screen, making plays.”

Tennessee has some solid young linebacker talent on the roster, but the program could use some added depth with Arion Carter heading to the NFL.

Wylie would be a solid transfer option for the Vols considering his previous experience in Knowles’ defense.
