The Minnesota Vikings will host the Green Bay Packers in the 2025 season finale on Sunday afternoon in a bitter NFC North rivalry.

While the Vikings aren’t playing for a playoff spot, they can achieve their third winning record in four years under head coach Kevin O’Connell. Having a winning record is huge for the Vikings’ culture, and it’ll give them momentum for the 2026 season.

The biggest questions for both teams are at the quarterback position, especially with J.J. McCarthy, who is dealing with a broken hand. The first injury report reflects the status of all three quarterbacks, and the rest of the team.

Observations

  • McCarthy being a limited participant in practice is massive for a potential return. It could be huge deal for the future of the Vikings. McCarthy has missed 25 of a possible 34 games. Playing on Sunday could help the Vikings make a decision.
  • Hockenson missed last Thursday’s game with a shoulder injury, but being limited is an improvement for the Vikings.
  • This is the fourth injury that Jones has had. Not practicing doesn’t mean a lot, but if he misses the game, it could be his last with the Vikings.

Observations

  • The Packers are going to rest players on Sunday with the Packers set to play in the playoffs as the seventh seed.
  • Because of that, the Packers may keep both Malik Wills and Jordan Love on the bench, with Clayton Tune getting the start.
  • Keep an eye on both Banks and Tom’s status. Missing two offensive linemen could make Brian Flores’ job much easier.
