Tennessee Vols suddenly have a big need at a very important position
The Tennessee Vols will need to find a transfer cornerback this offseason.
The Tennessee Vols suddenly have a big transfer need.
According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Vols cornerback Rickey Gibson III is entering the transfer portal.
Gibson suffered a season-ending injury in Tennessee’s win against Syracuse in Week 1 of the 2025 season.
Before the injury, Gibson was expected to be a lockdown cornerback for the Vols while starting opposite Colton Hood. True freshman Ty Redmond stepped into a starting role once Gibson went down.
Speaking of Hood, he recently declared for the NFL Draft. And that means Tennessee will need to find a starting cornerback in the transfer portal with Hood and Gibson moving on.
The high end of the transfer cornerback market is expected to reach $1 million this offseason.
