Tennessee Vols are receiving a transfer visit from the younger brother of a 3-time NFL Pro-Bowler
The Tennessee Vols are looking to land some defensive help in the NCAA transfer portal.
The Tennessee Vols are reportedly set to receive a visit from the younger brother of a three-time NFL Pro Bowler.
According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Colorado Buffaloes transfer safety Tawfiq Byard will take a visit to Tennessee.
Wiltfong also reported that Byard will visit the Texas A&M Aggies before visiting Tennessee.
The Tawfiq Byard file
- 6-foot-1 and 195 lbs from Hyattsville, MD
- Signed with USF out of high school as a 3-star recruit
- Transferred to Colorado after the 2024 season
- Totaled 79 tackles, a half sack, four passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and one interception in 2025
- Had 59 tackles and two sacks across two seasons at USF
Tawfiq Byard is the younger brother of Chicago Bears safety Kevin Byard
If Byard’s name sounds familiar to you, it’s because he’s the younger brother of Chicago Bears safety Kevin Byard.
Kevin spent the first eight seasons of his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans.
Safety is one of the Vols’ top transfer needs — it’s also a very important position in new UT defensive coordinator Jim Knowles’ scheme — so it’s not a surprise that Tennessee is in the mix for Byard.
Tennessee is also reportedly in the mix for Penn State transfer safety King Mack.
