So far, the transfer portal hasn’t been kind to the Alabama Crimson Tide. The team has seen far more departures than additions, but it’s still early. There are plenty of dominoes to fall for the Tide, including what happens next with quarterback Ty Simpson.

At which point, alongside visits from some star talent, the additions should start rolling in for the Tide. On Monday, however, Alabama added a wide receiver to it’s 2026 roster, even though he wasn’t off the team for very long.

Alabama WR Rico Scott announces his return to following his decision to enter transfer portal

Scott’s return ensures that Alabama will have a minimum of five, if not six wide receivers back in the mix for 2026. The team will await a draft decision from Isaiah Horton, who was a big-time transfer portal addition for the Tide in 2025.

Of course, Alabama has been eyeing other wide receivers in the portal as well, with sources telling A to Z Sports that the Crimson Tide is going to be aggressive in its pursuit of both a veteran and an upcoming pass catcher in the portal.

Alabama has a visit scheduled with Cam Coleman on Wednesday, and the Tide brought in dual-threat receiving and rushing weapon Hollywood Smothers on a visit on Monday. Scott showed promise in what reps he garnered on the field in 2025, but he caught the eye of many during spring ball and fall camp for 2025.

The Tide hopes he can take another step this offseason now that he’s back in the mix.
