News broke late Tuesday night that Tennessee Vols EDGE Jordan Ross is entering the NCAA transfer portal.

Ross, 6-foot-5/245 pounds from Vestavia Hills, AL, is a former five-star recruit who signed with Tennessee during the 2024 recruiting cycle. He was rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 EDGE in the nation.

Ross totaled 26 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble during his two seasons at Tennessee. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are an early program to watch for Ross.

BamaOnLine.com reported on Tuesday night that there’s “mutual interest” between Ross and Alabama.

Ross, despite not putting up big numbers during his time at Tennessee, is an elite talent. It’s unknown how Ross would’ve fit in new Vols defensive coordinator Jim Knowles’ scheme, but the former five-star recruit would’ve been an asset for Tennessee in 2026.

Losing Ross hurts. Losing him to Alabama would hurt even worse.

We’ll see if Alabama ends up making a strong run at Ross. If the Crimson Tide make him a top target, it’s hard to imagine him not landing in Tuscaloosa.

Update:

LSU is also in the mix for Ross. The Vols transfer EDGE is in Baton Rouge for a visit on Wednesday.
