NFL insider provides Lane Johnson update that could completely change Eagles’ game plan vs. 49ers in Wild Card matchup
Lane Johnson’s status is a massive part of the Eagles’ plan to beat 49ers.
As the Philadelphia Eagles get ready to play the San Francisco 49ers, Lane Johnson’s status for a return looms large. The All-Pro level offensive tackle has been dealing with multiple injuries this season, but he could be nearing his return at the perfect moment.
Eagles’ chance of beating 49ers may improve after latest Lane Johnson prediction
NFL insider Adam Schefter gave a notable update on Johnson’s potential return to the field for the Eagles on Wednesday morning.
“I’ll just say this: Lane Johnson, I expected to play two weeks ago. And when they won the division, I think they were able to just get him two weeks of rest. So, without speaking to a single person this week about it, I’m going to tell you right now: I would be floored if Lane Johnson didn’t play on Sunday.” — Adam Schefter via 97.5 The Fanatic on Wednesday
Head coach Nick Sirianni remains noncommittal on Johnson’s status, but it is worth noting that Schefter has some faith in him playing currently.
Additionally, Brian Baldinger, a friend of Johnson and connected member of NFL media, deleted a tweet/post on X which noted that the Eagles offensive lineman would play on Sunday. It is unknown why that was taken down. Earlier this week, Baldinger made it known that he didn’t think Johnson would play Sunday.
Maybe, that opinion has shifted by now.
Baldinger also said on X that he believes nobody could possibly do more to try and make that a reality on Sunday (than Lane Johnson). Clearly, he knows how hard Johnson is working to return for Philly. They are a different offensive unit when he’s on the field, too.
