A former Tennessee Vols assistant coach is reportedly sticking around in the SEC.

One of the coaches in Knoxville that wasn’t retained by new Vols defensive coordinator Jim Knowles was outside linebackers coach LeVorn Harbin.

Harbin, who previously served as a defensive analyst for the Vols, was promoted to outside linebackers coach when Mike Ekeler left Tennessee for Nebraska following the 2024 season.

According to CBS Sports college football insider Matt Zenitz, the Missouri Tigers are hiring Harbin as a defensive assistant.

Harbin will likely work with Missouri’s defensive line in some capacity, though his exact role hasn’t been announced yet.

Harbin isn’t the only former Tennessee staffer that’s heading to Missouri this offseason.

The Tigers also recently hired former Vols director of player personnel Jake Breske to a “lead front office” role.

Breske spent the last five seasons at Tennessee. He first worked with Josh Heupel at Missouri in 2016.

Tennessee and Missouri, by the way, aren’t scheduled to play each other in 2026. The two programs haven’t met since 2023 when the Tigers beat the Vols 36-7 in Columbia.
