Pro Football Focus says Tennessee Vols CB Jermod McCoy would be a perfect draft pick for a current Super Bowl contender
Tennessee Vols cornerback Jermod McCoy is expected to be a first round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Tennessee Vols cornerback Jermod McCoy, despite missing the entire 2025 season, is expected to be a first round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft
McCoy, who started his career at Oregon State before transferring to Tennessee, tore his ACL while working out shortly after the 2024 season. There was some hope that he would return to action at some point in 2025, but that wasn’t the case for the elite cornerback.
The Texas native is expected to be healthy for pre-draft testing and workouts. As long as those workouts go as expected, McCoy should solidify his status as one of the top cornerbacks in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Pro Football Focus says Jermod McCoy would be a perfect draft pick for the Los Angeles Rams
Pro Football Focus recently named the “perfect” draft pick for each NFL team and they think McCoy would be an ideal selection for the Los Angeles Rams.
“They (Rams) could stand to upgrade their cornerback room, as it hasn’t featured a true shutdown player since the team traded Jalen Ramsey in 2023,” wrote PFF’s Max Chadwick. “Even though McCoy missed all of the 2025 season with a torn ACL, he was still outstanding as a true sophomore in 2024, earning an 89.6 PFF coverage grade (ninth best in FBS).”
The Rams have the No. 13 overall pick in the draft, so they could certainly be in position to select McCoy.
PFF also has Vols cornerback Colton Hood destined for the NFC West, noting that he would be a perfect pick for the Seattle Seahawks.
Hood joined the Vols last spring after transferring from Colorado.
“While Devon Witherspoon led the NFL in PFF grade among cornerbacks, the Seahawks could still use help on the opposite side,” wrote Chadwick. “Hood stepped in effectively for the injured Jermod McCoy, ranking sixth among SEC cornerbacks in PFF coverage grade (80.1).”
The Seahawks will have one of the final four picks in the first round. Hood is currently projected as a late first round or early second round pick.
