The NFL coaching carousel just took another turn on Monday morning. The Buffalo Bills fired head coach Sean McDermott, opening up yet another HC spot around the league.

For the Philadelphia Eagles, their pursuit of a new offensive coordinator continues after moving Kevin Patullo off of that position on Nick Sirianni’s staff. Bills OC Joe Brady is now an intriguing name to watch for Philly, with his future a bit cloudy in Buffalo.

Latest on Eagles offensive coordinator coaching search and Bills head coaching decision

Brady has already undergone head coaching interviews so far this offseason, repeating a process he went through last year. That being said, it is possible that he wants a fresh start outside of Buffalo even if he does not land one of those openings. The Eagles could provide him with that opportunity as their OC.

Additionally, former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll has been a hot name during the OC search for Philadelphia. He has strong ties to the organization in more ways than one, but he also helped Josh Allen become the QB he is now for the Bills. With McDermott out, he sounds like a potential candidate for that job.

Eagles’ ties to Joe Brady involve Nick Sirianni

Brady was on the head coach radar for the Eagles when they hired Nick Sirianni as their head coach. Fast forward to 2026, and the Eagles have had five offensive coordinators in six seasons. With that sort of continued transition, it is worth keeping an eye out to see what Brady’s future holds.

“My guess is the Eagles will closely track Joe Brady’s availability. He was among the coaches the Eagles interviewed for the HC role in 2021 that went to Nick Sirianni. The same was the case with Kellen Moore — exposure that was beneficial to Eagles officials during OC search.” — Zach Berman, The Athletic

While this may be considered a long shot opportunity for now, you can truly never know what will happen in the NFL. If Daboll finds a way to get the Bills job, Brady could have his sights set elsewhere if Daboll expectedly wants to call offensive plays.
