Former Tennessee Vols running back Cam Seldon has reportedly found a new home in college football.
Seldon, 6-foot-1/211 pounds, is a former four-star recruit who signed with Tennessee during the 2023 recruiting cycle. He was rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 player in the state of Virginia and the No. 77 overall player in the nation.
The former Vol transferred from Tennessee to Virginia Tech following the 2024 season. After spending one season with the Hokies, Seldon announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal in late December.
On3’s Pete Nakos reported on Tuesday that Seldon, who has one season of eligibility remaining, is transferring to USF.
Cam Seldon moved to wide receiver at Virginia Tech in 2025
It’s unclear what position Seldon will play at USF.
The Virginia native switched from running back to wide receiver during his time at Virginia Tech.
Interestingly, former Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry (he was fired after the 2025 season) told reporters last spring that he could even picture Seldon playing safety.
“I’ve been pleasantly surprised,” said Pry this week when asked about Seldon. “He catches the ball more naturally than I anticipated. He’s got really good speed. He’s got a great build. He’s got really good work ethic. To this point, with four practices in the winter program, he’s everything that I hoped he’d be.”
“I even think about him on defense,” continued Pry. “He looks like a bona fide safety. He’s a really good looking athlete that can run, that has agility, that works. He’s got a burst. He’s raw in a lot of areas, but we’re excited to work with him.”
Seldon has caught 24 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns during his college career. He’s also rushed for 252 yards and one touchdown.
We’ll see if new USF head coach Brian Hartline and his staff can finally unlock Seldon’s elite potential.
