The Kansas City Chiefs made it official on Friday, saying goodbye to Matt Nagy after the past three seasons and welcoming back Eric Bieniemy as offensive coordinator.

Bieniemy returns to Kansas City for a second stint with the team after serving as running backs coach from 2013 through 2017 and offensive coordinator from 2018 through 2022. He’s spent the last three seasons jumping around different roles, joining the Washington Commanders as assistant head coach & offensive coordinator in 2023, jumping to the college game in the same role with UCLA in 2024, before finally settling in as Ben Johnson’s RBs coach with the Chicago Bears in 2025.

The Chiefs are welcoming Coach Bieniemy back with open arms, and they did so on social media by sharing a classic training-camp clip from 2020.

Chiefs welcome Eric Bieniemy back with a Travis Kelce mic’d up clip from 2020 training camp

What better way to celebrate Eric Bieniemy’s return than to throw it back to a funny moment from Travis Kelce’s mic’d-up at Chiefs training camp during the 2020 NFL offseason? In the clip, Kelce has a very important question for Mahomes. He’s fishing for a very specific answer from No. 15, but what he gets sets the stage for a fun reference for those who grew up listening to Hip Hop in the 2000s.

“If there was one person on the team that you could pick as your best friend, you can only pick one, who would it be?” Kelce asked Mahomes.

“Eric Bieniemy,” Mahomes responded, with zero hesitation.

“God, that’s a good pick,” Kelce said. “That’s a good pick.”

That’s when Kelce jumps into a deep cut, pulling an Eric Bieniemy reference from Lil Wayne’s 2007 classic “Live From the 504.”

“Where the enemies at? Running this thing like Eric Bieniemy’s back.”

Kelce doctored the lyric for radio, as it actually goes:

“In the middle of the war, where my enemy at? I’m running this bitch, like Eric Bieniemy back.”

Lil Wayne is a massive Green Bay Packers fan and is known for having some pretty obscure sports references in a lot of his music over the years. He might have to revisit this one now that Bieniemy is back in Kansas City for a second time.
