National media outlet makes free agent prediction for Jauan Jennings that most Tennessee Vols fans will love
Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings is set to be a free agent when the new league year begins in March.
Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings is set to be a free agent when the new NFL year begins in March.
Jennings, a seventh round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, was hoping to receive a contract extension from the San Francisco 49ers ahead of the 2025 season.
The two sides, however, were unable to come to a longterm agreement.
As a result, Jennings had several “play time” incentive bonuses added to his contract. Jennings ended up earning an additional $3 million because of the bonuses (bringing his total pay for 2025 to $10.5 million).
49ers general manager John Lynch said last week that he’d love to have Jennings back in 2026. The feeling, though, is that the former Vol will hit the open market in March.
CBS Sports makes free agent prediction for Jauan Jennings that most Vols fans will love
CBS Sports made some predictions this week for the top free agents in the NFL, and they have the Tennessee Titans signing Jennings as a free agent this offseason.
Notably, the Titans hired 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh as the franchise’s new head coach earlier this month. Saleh and Jennings were together in San Francisco in 2020 and 2025.
“Jennings had a breakout 2024 and followed it up with a solid 2025 that included nine receiving touchdowns,” wrote CBS Sports’ Zachary Pereles. “He’s a big, strong reliable receiver who is especially effective on third downs, and Robert Saleh would love to bring him along from San Francisco to Tennessee.”
Jennings, who went to Blackman High School in Murfreesboro,TN, caught 55 passes for 643 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025.
The former Vol isn’t the type of player that’s going to regularly put up gaudy numbers, but he consistently makes winning plays. Whether it’s run blocking, make a big catch on third down to move the chains, or coming down with a key red zone target, Jennings is the type of player that makes a team better just by being on the field.
