Everyone now knows the Las Vegas Raiders have one remaining finalist for their head coach role for 2026 and beyond. After Buffalo Bills head coach Joe Brady, former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll—now with the Tennessee Titans—and Denver Broncos QB coach Davis Webb are all out of the running, Klint Kubiak remains the sole candidate.

However, he’s the guy if he wants it.

The Raiders have a backup option at head coach if Kubiak doesn’t want the job

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Las Vegas Raiders are focused on the Seattle Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak as their top choice, especially now that Webb withdrew from consideration. However, Kubiak is also a candidate for the Arizona Cardinals’ open HC role. If he chooses Arizona, the Raiders will need an alternative. Fowler reports that Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero remains in consideration, though he appears to be the backup option.

Evero has also already had two interviews with the Raiders. However, he hadn’t heard much from him since various insiders made it public that Webb and Kubiak were the two finalists. Fowler, reporting that Evero was never pulled from the running, says that maybe he’s the backup option.

That’s great, honestly. Kubiak holds the power in this situation, and with the Cardinals having Kyler Murray, a good amount of cap space, and the No. 3 overall pick, Vegas isn’t the runaway option there.

The Raiders can’t make Kubiak pick them. So, if he does indeed pick the Cardinals, they want to be ready for that. You don’t want to be the team that doesn’t have a backup option, waiting on Kubiak just for him to not pick you, only for no one to be interested in them now. That would be bad, and the Raiders could get burned in that kind of situation. Luckily, they are prepared for anything.
