It’s no secret that 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges is the Tennessee Vols’ top recruiting target.

Gabriel Georges, 6-foot/205 pounds from Chattanooga, TN (he’s originally from Canada), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 running back in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee. He’s also rated as the No. 13 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

The Ohio State Buckeyes and Georgia Bulldogs are also strongly in the mix for the five-star running back.

“As good a position as you can be in at this point for a recruitment that is several months out from having a decision,” said VolQuest’s Austin Price in December of where the Vols stand in Gabriel Georges’ recruitment. “Tennessee and Ohio State — I know he lowered it to eight — but it’s really those top two teams. We’ll see if somebody else can get involved. It does not feel that way as of right now. It feels like those two teams are destined to battle it out until a decision is made sometime in the spring or summer.”

David Gabriel Georges comments on his interest in Tennessee

Gabriel Georges won’t sign with a college program until December, so he still has plenty of time before he makes a decision on where he’ll play college football.

Part of that decision-making process will include official visits, which will likely begin sometime over the next few months.

Gabriel Georges spoke to On3 this week about his recruitment — ahead of those official visits — and he dropped an encouraging comment about his interest in the Vols.

“I feel like Tennessee is building and bringing in top players that will make an immediate impact,” said Gabriel Georges to On3. “And they made it very clear that they see me the same way and that I am their top priority for 2027.”

The coveted running back also told On3 that he believes Tennessee is on its way to winning postseason games.

Gabriel Georges is the type of player that any championship team would want on its roster. And I would bet that his college plans include competing for a national championship, which is why it’s a good news for the Vols that he views Tennessee as a championship caliber program.
