Seahawks WR Cooper Kupp will be looking to make history in Super Bowl LX that even the great Jerry Rice couldn’t accomplish
Will Cooper Kupp become the first WR to win multiple Super Bowl MVP awards?
The Seattle Seahawks enter into Super Bowl LX as the favorites over the New England Patriots and hope the big game will go differently from how things went back in 2014 by earning some revenge this time around against the Patriots.
Both teams have reached this point thanks to a strong defense but don’t count out the offense making some noise in this game with Sam Darnold battling against Drake Maye at the quarterback position.
When it comes to predicting the Super Bowl MVP, Darnold and Maye are the two names leading the pack with Offensive Player of the Year winner Jaxon Smith-Njigba followed closely behind the two. The name everyone seems to be overlooking in the SBMVP conversation is a player who’s already won the award once and now is looking to make some history.
Cooper Kupp could become the first WR to win multiple Super Bowl MVP awards
With a strong performance in Super Bowl LX against the Patriots, Seahawks wide receiver Cooper Kupp could become the first WR to win multiple Super Bowl MVP awards.
List of wide receivers to win Super Bowl MVP
- Lynn Swann, Pittsburgh Steelers: Super Bowl X MVP
- Fred Biletnikoff, Oakland Raiders: Super Bowl XI MVP
- Jerry Rice, San Francisco 49ers: Super Bowl XXIII MVP
- Deion Branch, New England Patriots: Super Bowl XXXIX MVP
- Hines Ward, Pittsburgh Steelers: Super Bowl XL MVP
- Santonio Holmes, Pittsburgh Steelers: Super Bowl XLIII MVP
- Julian Edelman, New England Patriots: Super Bowl LIII MVP
- Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams: Super Bowl LVI MVP
Kupp first won the award back in Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams after posting eight receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns against the Cincinnati Bengals, capping off one of the best single-seasons by a wide receiver in NFL history.
“You appreciate being in this place,” Kupp said earlier this week. “Any chance to play in a Super Bowl, this is what you dream about as a kid. You never dreamed about making a catch and making plays in a preseason game, you always dreamed about the biggest moments. Being able to be at the pinnacle of it… it’s a pretty incredible thing.”
After being released by the Rams following the 2024 season, Seattle quickly picked up the phone to acquire the veteran wide receiver and it’s only fitting that Kupp was able to beat his former team in the NFC Championship Game to get back to the Super Bowl, an opportunity Kupp called “special.”
“Whenever the first time when we were allowed to reach out to Coop, I had him on the line,” Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said. “I said, ‘Look, we don’t get opportunities to acquire a player like you,’ especially early in our program. What better player to bring in early than Cooper Kupp.”
Now, with a history-making opportunity in front of him, we’ll see what kind of moment Kupp can have playing once again under the brightest lights this league has to offer.
