Andrew Luck and Stanford football steal a coach off the Colts staff ahead of the 2026 NFL offseason
The Colts just lost a member of their coaching staff, and it was Andrew Luck and Stanford that poached him.
The Indianapolis Colts have been fortunate not to suffer a significant shake-up to their coaching staff this offseason. Multiple members have interviewed elsewhere but ultimately remained with the team. However, their luck ran out this week.
Reggie Wayne himself broke the news that the Colts are losing a member of the offensive staff through his personal X account. Wayne shared that his assistant wide receivers coach Brian Bratton is no longer with the team.
Bratton is heading west to California, where he will be joining a familiar face from the Colts’ past. Andrew Luck’s Stanford football program is hiring Bratton as its WR coach.
Stanford University is hiring Colts assistant WR coach Brian Bratton
Bratton first joined the Colts in 2022 as an offensive quality control coach. He’s served in that role for the past four seasons but has also operated as an unofficial assistant wide receivers coach under Reggie Wayne.
Before joining the Colts, Bratton spent seven years at Furman University, where he served as co-offensive coordinator, pass game coordinator, special teams coordinator, and wide receivers coach. He’s now returning to the college level, joining Stanford under its new head coach, Tavita Pritchard.
The Colts have had some solid development in their WR room over the years, with Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce, and Josh Downs all becoming really good starters after not being first-round selections. Wayne led the charge, but his post above makes it clear how much he valued Bratton as a member of the room.
There is no guarantee the Colts will backfill this position, which means the team is likely still down only one opening on staff, namely their defensive line coach. This is a major step in Bratton’s coaching career, as he gets the chance to coach his own WR room at Stanford in the ACC. Bratton took to social media today to say his farewell to Indiana and the Colts now that his four year stint with the gean has ended.
